At the stroke of midnight
(16-10-11)

Do you remember the stories,
Irrational tales,
That used to keep us up at night?

Do you remember the tales
About demons,
About monsters that lie under our bed?

Well, here is another tale,
Of werewolves and full moons.
Do you know the one?

Mystical creatures that howl at the sight of the moon?
You may have seen them in films or tv series,
But in the real world they are different.

They are very much real,
And they exist amongst us...
A demon's curse on humans.

A vile transition, only once,
That completely destroys you
And turns you into one of them.

Destined to feed on flesh,
Destined to kill the one thing
You desire most, humans.

Able to only feed once
At the stroke of midnight,
Every full moon.

For blood is to them,
Like sex is to humans,
Addictive and compulsive.

So when you go to sleep
Take a deep breath
And remember, sleep tight.

I am not sure where this came from, but somehow it turned into a poem. The ending was suppose to have that sarcastic humor to it, but I am not sure if it came out as it did in my head.. punctuation is not my strong point.

I guess, mainly, I was inspired by the prompt 'midnight' provided by the contest being held at [link]

Enjoy.

Very good for halloween man! Reads almost like an old fairy tale, but I'm not sure one like this would be accepted these days! =D
